About Me

Picture
Since my days in high school I have had a passion for Leadership, Organizational Studies, and Team Work. My interest began while being a member of the McDowell Air Force Junior Reserve Officer's Training Corps (AFJROTC). Within the program I held numerous positions, including Alpa Flight Commander, Drill Team Commander, Deputy Corps Commander, and Corps Commander. Besides the various Officer positions, I was a team captain in volleyball, and commanded numourous drill teams.  At my high school graduation, my hard work paid off as I was the first in my family to graduate high school and received a Student Council Leadership Scholarship.

Upon graduating high school, I opted to go to Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.  I became involved with numourous organizations, including the House Counsel of my dormitory, and the beginning stages of the Omicron Sigma chapter of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Within the year I was elected to Vice President of the House Council, and became a Founding Father of Kappa Sigma at Slippery Rock University. At the end of my Freshmen year, I was awarded a full tuition scholarship based on my leadership activities on campus.

The following year I was a Community Assistant at a Resident Hall on campus. It was an opportunity to expand both my leadership and team work intelligence as I was in charge of overseeing a floor mainly consisting of incoming freshmen as well as work with fellow Community Assistants in organizing hall activities.

Upon completing my sophomore year of college, I opted to move off campus and focus more on the fraternity. I was elected Grand Treasurer and held the position for a little more than a semester until the position of Grand Procurator (Vice President) was vacated and I was elected into that. Throughout the year I did a lot of work to try and make the positions I was in more stable, creating continuity folders for each position that included a position description, important documents, contact information for the numerous points of contact that where utilized, and some tips for improvement.

Entering into my last year I pushed to become the new Pledge Education Instructor, a position I felt suited my skills and experience. Thus far, it has given me an experience to have a truly lasting effect on the fraternity I had grown to call home, as well as expand my knowledge and history of working in an environment essentially peers.

I also run Local Band Hero, a website dedicated to showcasing local bands across the country. Up until now much of what has been involved was simply getting the name out there and building a base. I began searching for bands from my local area, and will be branching out as the site grows. Building the site has offered me valuable insight on building a brand and getting the name out there. As the site expands, I plan on monetizing it by searching for local sponsors, selling merchandise, and organizing battle of the band competitions to award the Local Band Hero of whichever city the battle is set in.

I recently graduated from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania in December of 2010 and am searching for a company to work for who shares my energy and passion for business.
